Yo, yes I'm back. I've been busy working for Roman.
Roman is a clever businessman. You wouldn't think it if you knew him like I do, as a gambling alcoholic pacifist who wouldn't normally say 'BOO' to a goose! Nope, he is not up there with the go-getter's, but he has his plans set in place and he knows all the short cuts to doing business to stay ahead of the competition in his own area of interest.
To spray or not to spray, that is the question! |
Did you ever wonder why every other taxi in the city is of bright and shining colors, whilst Roman's Taxis are that shitty-brown color? That's because the paint is oil-tanker hull-paint, designed for the exposed seaward exterior side of an oil tanker ship! The paint is probably stronger than the rusty-metal and car-body-filler panels it is sprayed on. (That's gotta be a good thing)!
Roman will take all your private petrol & diesel receipts! |
If he has to buy anything new like tires or batteries, you can bet he has his fingers in the pie somewhere in the equation! Even his fuel is stolen black-market, bootlegged and cheap. But that does not stop Roman from making even more money, by selling it to his taxi-drivers who are also paying him to rent a cab to drive.
Roman will take all of your old fuel receipts for his tax-books, to cover his illegal sales of cheap fuel to his drivers. He even has a deal with the local garage forecourt assistants to keep all their customer receipts for him, if they do not ask for a fuel receipt.
Romans philosophy is not to let his right hand know what his left is doing! That is why I am always getting surprises in the way Roman conducts business. I know now to expect the unexpected, (if that is logically possible), because Roman is always full of surprises.
Quote; Roman; "Being at the earliest point in the process,
is the key to making real money!"
His knowledge and understanding of business, only comes second to his cunning and sly business methods and underhand dealing, where (usually), everyone wins, except the tax-man!
Some people might say he is a fraudster, but if it was not for people like Roman, most of us would not have jobs or homes to live in. He is like famine relief for us Eastern Europeans and to be honest, anyone else who Roman likes and decides to help.
Tire Clinic Flats! Romans fingers are in the pie. |
Going back to his dealings, Roman digs himself in as deep as he can to the source of all business. "Being at the earliest point in the process is the key to making real money!" Says Roman. You have got to listen close and intently when Roman speaks, because although he seems to come out with loads of bullshit, there is often a subtle message within what he is saying.
I did not know that Roman is behind all the new tire imports for most of the cheap-end to mid-range cars on the islands. I asked Roman why he did not expand to the higher quality tire imports and he said that he likes to leave something for the other traders and importers to do.
Roman 'The Janitor' Bellic. The casinos number one source of income! |
Although Roman deals in the cheapest tires, (that fits most every-car anyway), his imports business, is bigger than all the other tire importers put together. (That includes light and heavy commercials, sports tires and high-end luxury models tires). It should have been obvious to me, how Roman could afford to lose so much money gambling and still be just above broke most of the time.
Roman says, they call him 'The Janitor' at the casinos, because he always cleans up! But, in reality, the casino crews actually call him 'The Janitor' because he looses so much money, its a wonder that he doesn't end up cleaning out the toilets to make enough money to live.
If it weren't for Romans gambling, he would be a real high roller!
Roman will surprise you all the time, with who and what he knows about something you might think is totally unrelated to his business. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Roman is a clever business man! I always go to him first for advice and information on whatever business I am looking at.
As Roman would say over the Taxi Radio to his drivers...
Keep the shiny-side-up and the dirty-side-down! (Although I don't know how they can tell when driving Romans shitty brown taxis)!
Niko.
