GTAV A NewGTAgame!

Letter to RockStarGames about GTA5 of course!

Dear (oh dear) RockStarGames..
I am concerned that R* is getting off track again with GTA5 (not that there is anything I can do about it, I realize that). I just point out what RockStarGames  say and then seem to contradict themselves.

Our realistic worlds are getting neutralized with games houses and designers bowing to what they think the masses of players want in their games.

RockStar is a law unto its-self and like even when RockStar (2K games), could have been swallowed up by a bigger company, the Housers said they would have never took any notice of rules and regulations imposed on the RockStar team. 2K give them an open license as it were to do as they please and damn the nay-sayers who say you can't do this or that in a game. That's why GTA is head and shoulders above the rest of the games.

What the heck is GTA5 doing under-water?
Or hunting like in Red Dead?

But then, we see players calling out for Jet fighters and laser guided missiles, or jet packs and there is really no-need for it in GTA. What the heck is GTA5 doing under-water? Or hunting like in Red Dead?

Are we going to be able to skin and bring a deer back to the barbeque? Hey, its called GRAND THEFT AUTO - RockStar seems to have forgotten its all about cars and stealing cars! The biggest thing R* could do; is to stop cars vanishing when you park and leave them parked-up. (Oh so you say they cannot do it because of some sort of technical coding reason that would take too long to explain, and I and the majority of players wouldn't understand or accept the answer anyway)!

I was once told, its to do with sprites or polygons (or moveable items or things you can use), on the screen and you can only have so many on the screen at the same time. I don't know or understand any of that. All I know is that in Skyrim, I accidentally left a load of weapons out, I was hiding in a barrel, but left them scattered where I'd dropped them when I was sorting our my stolen items and books etc.

I took up the game on a fresh day, and forgot about picking it all up. It was still there over a week in game time and several adventure missions later. Also, I started leaving tools and weapons all over the place after that. On the road or in the street etc. No need to look for a lock box or a safe hiding place.

If you can leave stuff all over the place in skyrim, why can't we do it in GTA? The items are also complicated bits of kit. Weapons with names like the Axe of Whiterun and lots of different stats to each item etc. So, probably the same as cars in that respect to color, condition of damage, fuel etc.

A game like Grand Theft Auto should revolve around stealing cars! Or perhaps they should consider changing the name from GTA to 'Life of Crime,' or 'Anything Goes' because it certainly is not about stealing cars. What about missions on car ringing operations where you run the operation as a business. Or running Auto shops where you are ripping off people, (or not), running a car imports or exports business off the back of a car ringing operation or just as a car sales showroom?

The Housers (Sam) said that RockStarGames was going for realism and realistic simulation. Yet, Slowing time and having armored cars with roll-cages, bullet proof tires and Nitrous is not realistic. (As isn't pulling an RPG out of your back pocket or finding fully loaded guns in the street that re-spawn every 6 hours).

Nor are flying jet fighters or jet packs realistic!  I thought that RockStar had started listening to us GTA fans (after GTA San Andreas), we who had hoped for R*'s promise of keeping it realistic to stay true.

And then RockStar gave us GTA4, great! No jet-packs, (but no light aircraft either - that was OK though, we had helicopters)!  Although we were annoyed that the forklift trucks and articulated lorries didn't work like they did back in GTA SA and RockStar also took away most of our favorite side missions, like paramedic, fire and trash-master, pizza delivery, skate-parks, BMX's and taxi missions or driving the train.

Not to worry though the car handling was great in GTA4, even if you couldn't walk more then two streets away from your car without it vanishing.

  • ****SAM HOUSER SAID:- 'We really know we are going to be able to go to the next level in terms of REALISTIC SIMULATIONS and REALISTIC immersion, combined with incredible narrative and incredible story telling and those two components combined are what are going to create the  experiences of the future!'
  • How is it realistic to carry 25 grenades and a shed load of other guns and be able to pull a rocket-launcher out of your bum? There's tons more unrealistic things too, but you get the point!

So, in GTA5...  The Slow-Down-Time thing sounds stupid to me and when I first saw it in the GTA5 released videos, (before I knew what it was), with the car-chase driving into head-on traffic.   I said at the time that it looks stupid, no-car handles like that. I think R* got car handling just about right in GTA4, despite people claiming that cars 'speed-boat' down the road at high speeds!

Look, I've actually driven those types of older cars in real life and that's what they do do at higher speeds. The suspension is crap. But the cars in the car chase video in GTA5 turn too precisely and it looks totally unrealistic in GTA5. Just my own observation of course and too late to do anything about it I'd think. But, its really a slowing time issue, isn't it?

I know this is getting too long for you,
but I wonder if you'd tell us if; in GTA5...

1, Will the cars you park-up in GTA5, vanish if you get too far away from them like they do in GTA4?

2, Will there be forklift trucks in the game and will their forks actually work to pick stuff up.  Re- it would be nice to have jobs and run businesses where you as a worker, have to load a vehicle, transport the goods and unload at the other end.
It would be great also, if you could do more with RDR in that fashion and have goods delivery and transport missions for building your businesses and not run against the clock - stressing out etc.

3, Can you drive hitch and un-hitch articulated semi-trucks in GTA5?

It would be great to do another release in the GTA4 game world with a lot more interiors. Business building, DLC.

I run an alternative story blog based on GTA called NewGTAgame.co.uk
I thought turning GTA into a life and business training game for people would be a great idea. Showing people how to go about setting up a business playing on the legal side or going the other way and building businesses either illegally or with a light mix of both.

A game like Grand Theft Auto should revolve around stealing cars!
Have a great day!
Niko.
