GTA does not have to be about a constant
road-rage driving style of manic mayhem.
I wanted to make this post, to point out to everyone, that it is just as much fun for most of us, to try and drive sensibly and obey the rules of the road. No - I do not agree that this spoils the game in any way. GTA does not have to be about a constant road-rage driving style of manic mayhem. (Although I love that too)!
I love to do ordinary driving missions. I especially enjoyed the trash-master refuse truck missions in GTA San Andreas and the articulated lorry jobs. The only thing that spoil't those articulated lorry missions to a small degree, was the fact that you could not choose to do ordinary peaceful missions. It was always against the clock or having to defend the articulated lorry from attackers.
I sometimes just like to make up my own missions, of perhaps driving round the map in a sports-car or slow ass truck. Not take on any damage and look out for the police, if you do have to break the rules due to traffic congestion or ass-holes who just won't get out of the way! Even in Red Dead Redemption I like to just ride around and enjoy the scenery, do a bit of hunting and take my time, un-rushed.
I'd like to look after a car, driving it right across the map to a race meet and then drive it back to get any repairs afterwards. If you have a custom car shop, you could arrange to have the car delivered to you at the race starting point on the back of a flat-bed or proper two or three-car, car transporter, (you've seen them in GTA4), so why can't we use them?

The car transporter could wait for you till the end of the race, assuming the race start and finish points, are in the same place! (As it usually is, e.g. GTA4 Ballad of GT). It could even meet you at the end of the race even if it is not in the same location as the start of the race.

What I want Rockstar Games to realise and notice from the thousands of videos on places like YouTube, is that people really do just love to 'play-cars', and drive around. We don't all want to just go bang, bang, bang from missions to mission, with fast paced banging music and be against the clock and attackers all the time.

I want a chance to build and develop businesses and work and live a normal life in the game world. Of course, with the option to dip in and out of the story missions and do a fair bit of crime if I so choose. Every business you run could be done either 100% legally or have part of the business illegally or go for the 100% illegally run business. (More on those points in other GTA businesses posts).
In this video below, you can see how much we just love to drive about normally. I can imaging what was going through the players mind as he was driving to the scrap yard. Keep the truck safe, I'm delivering something like used tires for recycling.
Did you notice that he drove from a building that could have been a tire fitting specialist bay. Taking the used and worn tire to the salvage yard, where they take the tires, shred them and sell them to other recycling companies via export.

Look Rockstar Games, we want to drive articulated lorries and hitch-up trailers. But, there's no point if there is nothing to deliver, so we also want businesses, that buy in materials and produce goods for us to take to warehouses, shops and to export. This would use all types of transport from small vans to container lorries and articulated lorries! Top it all off with a working forklift truck.
Video of articulated lorry use in game, (not GTA),
It would be nice to have lots of car related businesses, garages and spray shops, tires, battery and exhaust centers and custom car shops, (selling rims, suspension, fenders, decals, specialist spray jobs and interiors etc). Then to have recycling for all the various part of the cars, like batteries, oil and fuel to rubber, metal and plastics, all either going to home based recycling plants of to export in containers via the shipping ports.
It would be nice to take the trucks out in convoy mode, like in the video above. (I know the film maker did start stop editing, but the idea is there)! The fun does not have to stop with slow ass articulated lorries!
However, I do want peaceful missions, that you can get a time bonus for, but that you do not fail just for being late or having a little bit of damage. I don't want explosive loads that go off if I have a bump or two. (But, sure, yes have those kind of missions too, if the game developers think that they are a must have)!
GTA4 Liberty City's economy is well in recession, most factories and buildings are disused and boarded up. So, your mission overall, (should you choose to accept it), would be to get the economy back on its feet. You do this by starting up businesses and employing people. Every aspect of each business could be learned and done by yourself at least just once, so that you can train up your staff to do the work.
Once you have one business up and running, you could move on to another important key business. Each business can run in phases, whereby, getting to a (game secret) income level, you can start to upgrade the business. Or all of the upgrades could be available if you can afford them from the outset. It would be up to you to keep your business profitable.
Buses should work and pick up passengers like the trains do currently in GTA4, although the bus in the next video is unnecessary and a bit over the top. we only need the same buses as we currently have in GTA4.
Yes we do want bus routes, a day job you can do for the city. 1, It earns you money and 2, it teaches you the names of streets and area layout. Driving round a perimeter or over the same route teaches you the streets! This is a job you would do before Taxi work, because you have to 'learn-the-knowledge' (whatever its called), knowing streets first, is part of the Taxi missions test. (Unless you do unlicensed taxi driving). These videos show it takes skill and patience to drive a bus!
The Police Missions.
Wow, this (above), is the best detail, police response mod I've seen to date. (Read the text in the video, using full screen). This is what we want, city jobs like this are great. I love R* to build this into the game. I'd be happy to see it set in the same location as GTA4. Not only would I like to clean the streets like this police response video, but also to rebuild the economy. Get all those disused buildings and factories back to working order.
This is great, I would also like to see the ambulance and fire brigades be called, and a tow truck (or flat-bed with crane), to collect the vehicles involved, to be taken away at the end.
Rules like, if there are other officers attending, you can leave the job to them and leave the scene, otherwise you cannot leave the scene, until it is attended by other police (or traffic police), who will co-ordinate the clean up! Drive by 30 minutes or an hour later and they are still there clearing wreckage. Gone after two hours or so.
Anyway, I will close this post here for now. There are other posts along the similar lines, go and read or listen to them elsewhere on this blog. At www.NewGTAgame.co.uk. Also play the Playlist I have collated for you below. GTA4 LCPD Police Jobs PLAYLIST.
