GTAV A NewGTAgame!

GTA Car Trunk or Van Armory

GTA Car Trunk or Van Armory.

We Want Realism!
Where 'does' Niko put that rocket launcher?
You get guns from the boot of your car if loaded at your safe house, home or ware-house.

Some of the obvious things that stand out to me is that, in this fantastic game of GTA, the developers have gone into amazing detail with the vehicle handling physics, AI and scenery, yet still have you pulling a rocket launcher out of you back pocket. It actually looks like Niko pulls it out of his fly-zipper, big man, hey!

Who do you think you are, The Terminator?
Why can't we have a reason for having the micro SMG, the automatic pistol, and only 4 grenades? Who in the world can carry 24 grenades, a rocket launcher with 8 missiles, an M4, an automatic-pistol, an SMG, and a machine shot-gun with explosive rounds, all fully loaded. Plus carry a base-ball-bat and wear a bullet proof vest all at the same time? The Terminator could, but then he's a T-1000 robot from the future.

Lets get real.
Our protagonist should be able to carry a reasonable amount of armory that is concealable. Beyond that, he should have to wear an over-coat, Matrix style, if he wants to conceal an M4, or a shotgun.

Sniper-Rifle.
Perhaps a sniper-rifle should be of the assemble from concealed parts, or a case that you'd have to carry!

The boot of your car should be the place for all the heavy artillery, If you read the other posts, (some coming later), you will see that our protagonist, lets call him Niko, has a right hand man. He drives your support car or van, a bit like Armando in TBoGT or Terry in TLaTD. But he never refuses, unlike Terry and Armando!

Basic Weapons.
However, in the spirit of starting out realistically, Niko has to earn everything he gets. Thus, at first he will only be able to get a basic police issue hand-gun and baton at best, if he runs a cop down! Also he can get a knife from hoodlum-types if he fights the general public on the streets or takes a base-ball-bat from some member of the public at a base-ball pitch or if he happens to take it from someone who attacks him with one.

Streets Paved with Gold?
Weapons should not be laying around all over the city for you to find, that's not real is it? When was the last time you found an M4 behind a wall next to a pavement? Better still, if you ever did, did you return six hours later to find yet another one in the same place!
Nope, you should find guns only when you are burglarizing peoples houses like CJ in GTA SA.  Otherwise, pick them up during a battle with a rival gang, spoils of war and all that!

Black-Market-Guns.
You could just buy them on the black market, when you have the right contacts, or you should be able to attack a police station, via wearing a disguise and stolen police ID, walking in and passing guns out of a rear window to your gang who have a van waiting.

An Easy Target.
Better still, it would suffice to just attack a two man police car unit, to get two guns plus rounds and a shotgun with rounds and batons. Also, its too easy to attack a police unit. Currently you just try the door of a cop car, the lights and sirens start and the cops get out. You just get in and drive off, that gets you the shotgun they left in the car.  Then simply spin round and run the cops over with their own car, get out and pick up their hand-guns and batons. It should be harder!

Search Me?
Oh yes, Niko should have to search the bodies if he wants their cash! It's a little below the big-man, gangster type he's going to become, to be robbing citizens for a few dollars. I know people drop things when they get run over, (I mean they must, but I've never actually run anyone over in real life to find out), but I'd guess that money doesn't just fall out of their pockets! Lets get real! Make him search!

Enter the Matrix!
If you need to go into a building full of people covertly, then you should carry a sports-bag with all your hardware in it. You can only really get 8 or 10 grenades on your trouser belt, round the back. Which are only then concealed if you are wearing a jacket down to your bum and standing-up. You could not sit in a car seat wearing them! Possibly, wear a Matrix style long coat with your weapons concealed in the front!

Grenades will hang on the inside breasts of your jacket, so you may be able to carry 24 - 12 in each side. It would be heavy, but more realistic. An overcoat would serve the same and hide even bigger weapons like the M4, AK47, any of the shotguns and even perhaps the Rocket Launcher!

Don't Play with Matches!
If you fall, get run over or shot whilst carrying Molotov-cocktails, you could explode in a ball of flames. And, just like with the Rocket Launcher, where does our character keep them on his person? You right-hand man or other associate should have to run with you for Molotov's, with a crate. I know this sounds stupid, especially when you are used to pulling lit Molotov's out of your trouser pocket. But can you not see how stupid this is in reality? Its not realistic is it!

If you wanted to Molotov the opposing gangs people or premises, then the Molotov's are in the boot of the car or back of the van. Lets hope you think like me, I can carry three bottles between the fingers of my left hand and have a hand free whilst on the move to fire a hand-gun or perhaps M4 from the hip. Shouldering the weapon I could light and throw one of the Molotov's. When I run out, I'd have to return to the van for more.

Depending on how many men you take on the job, they could each take 3 Molotov's to use, one car boot could hold a max of 2 crates of 12 Molotov's. A standard gun-van, (like the type used in TBoGT and TLaTD), could carry 3 crates of 12, because it is only a small van and had all the other weapons on-board too. A lorry could take as many as you'd ever need, but up-to a max of say 24 crates per pallet. (Read other posts coming later about pallet loads, vehicle consists and limits).

Tuneful Screams of the Passers-By.
Other than that it should realistically be down to just getting out your hardware from the boot of a stolen car, in the street, to the tuneful screams of the passers-by and openly attacking the rivals business or gang.

On certain missions, you would be best advised to meet up round the corner from your target, either just with the right-hand-man with the gun van, or with your boys (and girls - which is about the only good thing I have to say about Saints Row -but that is only if the game is set in modern times, I can only think of Bonnie out of Bonnie and Clyde as a fem fetal gangster of old), I digress. Where was I?

Yea, Meet up round the corner, and get into a big van or back of a container lorry to tool-up. The lorry could drive round the front and you all pile out, or just run round the corner with all your guns in full display an blaze away.

When the battle is over, if there is time, pick up as much weaponry as possible, taking it to a waiting car, or any car or cars you are going to steal when you drive off, or put them in the lorry or van you tooled-up in. The same carry limits apply even after the battle, if you are to escape the police, you cannot be seen walking with an M4 if you don't have a Matrix style overcoat on.

Clear the Streets People!
Coats, flack-jackets, bullet-proof vests and every additional gun you carry should add to slowing you down, just as it does in the real world. If you need to run fast and there are no cars available, you may want to consider ditching you heavier weapons and overcoat. Many times I have been on the run, (in the game), when the police have cleared the streets and no-cars are available. You just have to peg-it and leg-it!

Do you find it strange also, that even though you have maybe 3 or 4 stars wanted level during an attacking mission, like in a gang-drug-war, when suddenly you kill the last guy standing for mission end and the wanted level goes off too. Whats that about? The police should want to catch you even more, you are the only one left standing to blame after all!

I might add a bit more to this post at a later date!
